I love a wire headband.

DIY Wire HeadbandYou can manipulate them to look good with pretty much any hairstyle.  They make topknots and lazy ponytails look like you tried.  Here’s how to make your own.

DIY HeadbandYou’ll need a piece of fabric long enough to wrap around your head one and a half times, wire, and a glue gun.

Wire HeadbandCut the wire so it’s a little bit shorter than the piece of fabric and glue the end directly to the fabric.

Spring HeadbandContinue to glue the wire down along the entire piece of fabric.

Easy DIY HeadbandFold the fabric up (covering the  wire), and secure it with glue.

Wire Headband DIYFold and glue the fabric again to clean everything up.

No Sew Headband

Fold the ends of the headband down to seal it all together.

Headbands are the best way to turn a bad hair day into a good one.

Valentine’s Day is like my kick off to spring.

I know it’s winter for another month or two, but every year around this time I want spring clothes.  Here’s how spring up a little sweater or tee.

Sweater

You’ll need an old lightweight sweater.  You can find a lot of sweaters at Old Navy on sale for like $10 a piece.

LaceYou’ll also need lace or some sort of sheer fabric.

DIY Lace SweaterTurn your sweater inside out and measure the lace.  Cut the lace to fit the sweater.

Lace Sweater InsertUse tape to mark off where you want to put the lace.

Peekaboo SweaterUsing the tape as a guide, cut out the fabric that you want to replace with lace.

DIY Peekaboo SweaterGlue the lace into place.  You can cut any excess fabric off when finished.

DIY Spring SweaterWhoa… you could play a drinking game with how many times I said lace.

Not sunglasses… champagne glasses!

Glitter Heart GlassesGlitter isn’t just for New Year’s.  You can add little glitter hearts to any type of glassware for a fun girls night in, an easy V-Day gift, or even a Valentine’s party.  Here’s how to do it.

Glitter Champagne GlassesYou can find really cheap glasses at Target, Walmart, or the dollar store.

Valentines DIYPrint out a small heart shape and cut the inside out.

Valentines GlassesSecure the heart(s) to the glass(es) with tape.

Valentines Champagne GlassesPaint a thin layer of Mod Podge over the heart.

GlitterAdd glitter and peel off the tape.  This isn’t dishwasher safe but it’s a festive way to decorate glasses for different holidays.  If you want this to be permanent Martha Stewart makes different glitter craft paints that you can use.

Garnish your glasses with a rose petal… so chic.

DIY: Valentine’s Shorts

V-Day can mean major heart overload.

Valentines ShortsI like to celebrate with different floral patterns instead of hearts.  Here’s how to make anything Valentine’s ready with a simple rose stamp.

DIY Printed ShortsPick out a boring piece of clothing.  I went with these little pink shorts, I don’t think I’ve ever worn these before… I’m more of a skirt kind of girl.

DIY Stamped ShortsYou need a stamp and fabric paint too.  I found this rose stamp at Michael’s on sale for like $2.  Test the stamp and paint out on a blank piece of paper before stamping your clothing.  The paint can get messy so you’ll need to figure out how much to use to get a perfect stamp.  Once you’ve mastered the stamp use it to create a random pattern on your shorts/skirt/shirt.  When everything dries flip it over and do the other side.

What I’m Into

Here’s a few things that I was into this week… and one that I wasn’t.

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer

Concealer

I don’t think I’ve ever bought the same concealer twice in a row… ever.  I liked the price of this one and the fact that it was highlighting so I bought it and love it.  Target didn’t have the lightest shade so I got the second lightest one Radiant.  This concealer provides maj coverage without making your undereyes too white.  The highlighting factor makes it look like you slept for 8 solid hours.  I’d buy this again, but I don’t like the applicator (I wish it was a wand).

ELF Mineral Face Primer in Radiant Glow

PrimerI’ve never really been much for primers, but I guess I’ve been watching too much YouTube.  I had read really good things about the ELF mineral primer and it’s only $6… why not get it?  This primer it makes my skin glow.  I wear just the primer on my days off.  It also makes really matte foundation look sickening.  Totally worth the $6.

John Frieda Foam Dye

John Frieda DyeI’m really anal about my hair and I’ve been getting it done at salons for at least twelve years.  However, my recent hair stylist moved to NY and I’m just not interested in seeing anyone else (yet).  So I wait patiently until he comes to MD to get my hair done.  In the mean time I’ve been dying it myself.  I haven’t had highlights or ombre for a while, my hair is just brown which makes it really hard to screw up.  I’ve been loving the John Frieda dye line.  My hair pretty much turns out the same color every time (I feel like Hillary in Beaches), but this formula is not messy at all.  John Frieda also has toning glosses.

 New Year, New Scents

SandalwoodI feel sooo accomplished when I finish off the pine and apple cinnamon holiday candles.  I do think it’s a little early for floral scents, but I found this sandalwood at Michael’s and I love it.  I’d like my house to smell like this all the time.

What I’m Hating

When I accidentally like things on Pinterest.

Accidental Pinterest LikesI just started having this problem so I don’t know if it’s some kind of Pinterest update or if I’m an idiot.  When I’m trollin Pinterest with one hand I keep accidentally liking weird shit and I didn’t realize I was doing it until I checked my likes.  I had liked knitting stuff, mom stuff, just bizarre stuff that I hate and everyone probably got alerts about it.  I don’t know how to stop this and it pisses me off.
