I haven’t done one of these in a while…
Recently, I’ve been into nautical like crazy. Everything that I’ve been buying is white or navy, and a lot it involves stripes or brass buttons. Nautical feels relaxed, yet appropriate during summer. You can totally work a nautical dress to the office with a top knot, then straight to happy hour with loose waves and a gold necklace. Although sailor styles tend to feel casual, all you need to do is add some sort of gold/brass to take the look to the next level. You can make nautical whatever you want it to be… preppy, vintage, laid back, beachy, even sophisticated.
Here’s A Few Nautical Do’s…
Olivia Palermo – I’m in love with this dress. J’adore a simple tee dress. The bow is an amazing accent, you don’t even need jewelry.
Alexa Chung – Navy is classic, clean, and modern. Her striped cardi and jacket play well with each other.
Taylor Swift – What a gorge little bathing suit. This style is flattering on a variety of body types. I love retro inspired swimwear.
Usually, I find a few hot messes that did my mood board dirty… but nautical is soo hard to screw up, even
Courtney Stodden Paris Hilton looks classy in it. So instead, I’ve found a few accessible nautical pieces… all under $100, werq!
I like this sweater because it’s an edgier take on nautical. The bold yellow pops against the navy, and the shoulder buttons are adorable. You can get this at Forever 21 for $13.99. It would look fierce tucked in to a tulip skirt, worn over a sundress, or paired with white skinnies.
Shorts can be an iffy situation, but these are both extremely cute. The short shorts would look stunning with a tunic-y tee, while you could turn the longer shorts out with a tighter tucked tee. Both of these shorts can be found at Gap, shorties $34.96, longies $44.95
Love. The horizontal and vertical stripes actually work together, and this silhouette looks sickening on all body types. You could rock this dress to an outdoor concert, or the office… trés versatile. You can scoop this up from Modcloth for $59.99.
Chambray is a summertime must have. You can wear it with skinnies, shorts, skirts, even as a cardigan. The anchors make this shirt different from the rest. Werq it with gold accents to really stand out. You can get this from Old Navy for $18.99.
You best gets ta shoppin.
