Pumpkin season’s in full effect!

Pumpkin Pita PizzaAlthough PSL’s are full of fat, real pumpkin is actually super healthy.  A whole can of pumpkin is only like 150 calories.  It’s also really easy to incorporate into anything from pizza to cake.  Here’s how to turn out a lil pumpkin pita pizza.

Healthy Pumpkin SnackAll you need is a can of pumpkin, pita bread, and cheese.  I think parm and asiago work best with pumpkin.  You’ll also need either rosemary or sage.

Healthy Fall Snack

Spread a thick layer of pumpkin on the pita.  You can store any unused pumpkin in a sealable container and keep it in the fridge for up to a week.  Doggies also love pumpkin…

and it’s good for their little tums.

Pumpkin SnackSprinkle some cheese over the pumpkin, just like a pizza.

Pumpkin PizzaFinish the pizza off with a bit of fresh rosemary or sage.  I prefer rosemary.  Bake the pita(s) at 350° for 6-10 minutes.

Healthy Pumpkin Pizza

When the pizza’s done, garnish it with garlic salt.

Pumpkin FoodI love this pita pizza because it looks chic.  It’s super easy to make, and you can turn out a lot of pita’s at once.  The pumpkin and parm pairs amazingly well with Pinot Noir… especially on a chilly night.
